Overweight Girls = Diabetic Women?

Obesity is a risk factor for diabetes at any age, but a recent study makes this connection even clearer, suggesting that carrying excess weight during youth may translate into a higher risk of developing diabetes later in life.

According to the study, girls who are overweight at younger ages (ages 5 – 10) may have three times the risk of type 2 diabetes. Women who are obese at ages 18 – 20 are “almost nine times more likely to develop diabetes than their normal-weight counterparts.”
