Violent Video Games Encourage Aggression
Experience, common sense and research all suggest exposure to violence can increase the risk of becoming violent. This applies whether exposed to a real-life event or a video game, according to a recent study.
A small, but significant study found that playing “first person shooter (video) games” causes “increased aggressive behavior” in men who play them. The study also found reduced cognitive behavior during the resting period between play.
While more research is required to better understand these findings, parents would be well advised to seriously consider the potential impact of these types of games on their children and teens.
