C-Sections = Viral Infections for Babies
The process of natural childbirth can have many benefits for the baby as well as the mother. A recent study found that reduction in lower respiratory infections is another one of those benefits.
Researchers found that “elective caesareans or delivery without labour may result in impaired immunity in the newborn leading to increased risk of early viral lower respiratory infections.” The study found that the potential for these infections continues through the first two years of the baby’s life.
Motherhood is a serious responsibility. The decisions made by mothers before, during and after pregnancy have a major impact on their baby’s health. Natural childbirth along with nutrition and breastfeeding are required in order to give your baby the best start they can have.
