Cheese Beats Butter for Cholesterol Health
While you might be tempted to believe that cheese and butter are pretty much the same when it comes to you cholesterol level, it isn’t necessarily true. A study from The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition compared the effects of diets with equal fat content rich in either hard cheese or butter or a regular diet.
What the researchers found may surprise you. They noted that “cheese lowers LDL cholesterol when compared with butter intake of equal fat content and does not increase LDL cholesterol compared with a habitual diet.”
It should be noted that the participants ate “hard cheese” that was probably more aged than our usual American cheddar. Still, it does give a sense of comfort for the consumption of cheese in reasonable amounts.
