Women Take Job Strain to Heart
Everyone knows that the stresses and strains of daily living take their toll on our health. This can lead to a number of ailments, including cardiovascular disease (CVD). Many times, those stresses and strains are job related.
A recent study found that job strain and highly active jobs may be more dangerous for women than originally thought. The study found that “women with high job strain (high demand, low control) were 38% more likely to experience a CVD event than their counterparts who reported low job strain (low demand, high control), and women with active jobs (high demand, high control) were 38% more likely to experience a CVD event relative to women who reported low job strain.”
Women need to be aware of the stresses and strains of their job/lives and find ways to reduce them as much as possible.
