Chocolate Lowers Blood Pressure?
Yes, a new study found one more reason to love chocolate. Researchers have determined that “Flavanol-rich chocolate and cocoa products may have a small but statistically significant effect in lowering blood pressure by 2-3 mm Hg in the short term.”
It should be noted that “flavanol-rich chocolate” is dark chocolate, at least 70% cacao, so you will have to be a little choosy on which chocolate products you consume. Also noted is that those who participated in the study were only given about 4 ounces of cocoa products a day, which is only a couple of bites.
