Fitness in Middle Age Increases Life Span
A recent study looked at how keeping yourself physically fit in your 40s and 50s can benefit you as you get older. The study particularly examined how better fitness could reduce the risk of chronic conditions later in life. Researchers found that “higher fitness was associated with lower risk of developing chronic conditions relative to survival,” and that “fitness was significantly associated with a lower risk of developing chronic disease outcomes during 26 years of follow-up.”
While it is much easier to keep yourself fit in your 20s and 30s, there are significant benefits to staying fit into your later years.
