Less Sleep for Children May Lead to Diabetes

A study in China looked at the association between sleep intervals (8 hours or less per night vs. 9 or more hours) in children 3 – 6 years old. Researchers discovered that “compared with those who slept for 9 or 10 hours per night, those who slept for 8 hours or less had a significantly higher likelihood of having hyperglycemia.” Hyperglycemia is a condition of elevated glucose levels. This is one more factor to consider for the health of our children.
