Running Barefoot Easier on Knees

A study compared running barefoot vs. running with shoes found that “increased joint torques at the hip, knee, and ankle were observed with running shoes compared with running barefoot.” Specifically, the study revealed a “54% increase in the hip internal rotation torque” and an average of “a 36% increase in knee flexion torque.” Walking and running barefoot might be a better choice when possible.
