Vitamin D Reduces Fracture Risk in Seniors

Taking a daily dose of 800 IU or more of vitamin D can reduce the risk of fractures in people 65 years and older. A new study found that “reduction in the risk of fracture was shown only at the highest intake level (median, 800 IU daily; range, 792 to 2000), with a 30% reduction in the risk of hip and a 14% reduction in the risk of any nonvertebral fracture.” Talk to your doctor of chiropractic to insure that you and the older members of your family are getting enough Vitamin D.
