Vitamin D Important for Your Heart

The list of benefits related to having getting sufficient vitamin D is long and includes reduction in the risk of several cancers, dementia, bone loss and much more. A study of over 10,000 women found that vitamin D also reduces the risk of life-threatening heart issues.

When they compared women with the highest amount of vitamin D with those with the lowest amount, those with the lowest amount experienced

  • Increased risk of ischemic heart disease by 40%;
  • Increased  risk of early death by myocardial infarction (heart attack) by 57%;
  • Increased risk of fatal ischemic heart disease/myocardial infarction by 81%.

It is important that everyone have enough vitamin D. Ask your doctor of chiropractic if you and your family are getting enough.
