Honey for Night-Time Coughs

A study looking at cough suppression for children with upper respiratory tract infections (URIs) found that honey was an effective choice. The parents gave their children honey in the evening just before bed time.

Researchers found that “parents rated the honey products higher than the silan date extract (placebo) for symptomatic relief of their children’s nocturnal cough and sleep difficulty due to URI. Honey may be a preferable treatment for cough and sleep difficulty associated with childhood URI (upper respiratory tract infections).”
