Nutritional Supplements Help Alzheimer’s

A new study examined if specific nutritional supplements “could positively impact cognitive performance and behavioral difficulties for individuals diagnosed with AD (Alzheimer’s disease).” Randomized patients were given “a nutraceutical formulation (NF; folate, alpha-tocopherol, B12, S-adenosyl methioinine, N-acetyl cysteine, acetyl-L-carnitine) or placebo” for three or six months.

Researchers found that the group taking the nutraceutical formulation (NF) “improved versus the placebo cohort (group) within 3 months.” These determined that “these findings extend phase I studies where NF maintained or improved cognitive performance and mood/behavior.”
