Yoga for PMS
Premenstrual Syndromes (PMS) includes a wide variety of symptoms that women experience between ovulation and their period. These can include mood swings, irritability, fatigue and depression. Approximately 75% of women have experienced PMS.
A study was conducted to see if yoga exercises could help with PMS symptoms. After dividing subjects into groups, researchers found that “the alpha brain wave percentage was higher immediately after yoga exercise in the PMS group. This suggests that the participants felt more relaxed or were in a more peaceful mental condition after yoga exercise.” They concluded that “women with PMS could attend short-term yoga exercise in the luteal (latter) phase to make themselves feel better and maintain a better attention level.”
